The short version: We collect what we need to run a verified community and keep it safe. You can delete your account and everything in it from the app at any time.
What we collect
Account
- Your email address and, if you set one, your password
- The campus you join
Identity verification
- To join, you verify your identity with our partner Didit, which processes your government ID and a selfie under its own privacy policy.
- FACEY does not receive or store images of your ID or selfie. We receive the result of the check (approved, declined or in review) and use the sex listed on your ID only to confirm eligibility for our women-only community. We store the verification status and session reference, not your ID details.
Profile
- Your first name, profile photo, class year, and optionally your Greek affiliation and hometown. Other verified members can see your profile.
What you create
- Posts, comments, reactions and photos on Facey and Faceless
- Direct messages between you and other members
- Reports you submit, members you block, and people you hide
Safety records
- When the content filter blocks a post, we record a strike (the type of rule and the time), not the blocked text.
- We keep who wrote each Faceless post or comment. Other members never see it, but FACEY can, to investigate reports and enforce our Terms.
How we use it
- To create your account, verify you're eligible, and run the app
- To show your posts, comments and messages to the people meant to see them
- To moderate content, investigate reports, and enforce our Terms
- To respond to support requests and valid legal process
Who we share it with
Service providers that help us run FACEY, including:
- Supabase — hosts our database, sign-in and file storage
- Didit — identity verification
- Sightengine — scans uploaded photos for nudity, gore and hateful imagery before they're posted
We may also disclose information if required by law, to respond to valid legal requests, or to protect someone's safety.
Who can see what
- Facey posts and comments show your name and photo to verified members of your campus.
- Faceless posts and comments don't show your profile to anyone in the app.
- Direct messages are visible to you and the person you're messaging. Reported content may be reviewed by our moderators.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. Strike records count toward limits for 30 days. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your profile, posts, comments, reactions, messages, photos, blocks, reports, strikes and verification record. Backups held by our hosting provider are overwritten on their normal schedule.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account: Settings → Delete account in the app
- Edit your profile at any time in the app
- Access or correct your data: email us
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your data. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days.
Age
FACEY is only for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe a minor has an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access is restricted by database security rules, and photos are stored in private storage. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes
If we make important changes to this policy, we'll tell you in the app.
